Something about Grand Army Plaza:
Grand Army Plaza provides the grandest of park entryways in New York City’s answer to the Arc de Triomphe in Paris. Conceived as a memorial to the defenders of the Union in the Civil War, the elaborately carved Arch is also a base for a series of inspired bronze sculpture groupings that soar over the Plaza. On the ground, bold statues surround the massive arch, including a noted bust of President John F. Kennedy, and the mythical tableau atop the famous Bailey Fountain.
The Plaza is also the site of the second-largest open air Green Market in New York City. Every Saturday, you’ll find over 600 varieties of farm-fresh fruits, vegetables, baked goods, dairy products, and more.
Grand Army Plaza is formed by the intersection of Flatbush Avenue, Eastern Parkway, Prospect Park West and other streets.
