#EmeraldGarner, #EricGarner’s Daughter: “Turn your #anger into action.”
Millions March NYC posted this message on Facebook: “Many people were arrested by the NYPD tonight. If you or if you know anybody who was arrested tonight, please call the National Lawyers Guild @ (212) 679-6018 so that we can help track people, and do jail support for them. Also, please help and donate what you can to the Occupy bail fund, to help keep peaceful protesters out of jail at this link: http://bit.ly/actbail. Stay safe”
Protester Al Patron said to Democracy Now that attention has focused too heavily on the tactics used during Monday night’s uprising in Baltimore and not enough on the underlying problems.
Al Patron: “And it’s getting lost. It’s getting lost. And instead of looking at the root, we’re looking at the riot, when the root is more important. They murdered somebody, you know? And a life was taken. So I think we need to, like, start paying attention to that instead of like — and put more on preservation of life than preservation of buildings or whatever and property. I don’t care about that. I care about people that look like me’s lives.”
RT reports that “more than 60 arrested (watch a video) as hundreds in NYC, DC rally for Baltimore’s Freddie Gray.”
Press TV, New York reports that “In New York City, thousands gathered to protest the death of a Baltimore youth in police custody. But as our correspondent Caleb Maupin reports, the peaceful march was met with heavy handed police tactics, and a number of activists were also arrested (watch a video here).”
