Tuesday, November 8th, 2016. New York City – On Saturday, November 5th, 2016, the Eagle and Condor Community Center organized the NYC Prayer March in support of the Standing Rock Sioux Nation.
More than a thousand supporters of the Water Protectors attended the march.
The Prayer March Route was the Wickquasgeck Trail, the Lenni-Lenape path that ran the length of the island (Manahata).
The march started at 1 Bowling Green (National Museum of the American Indian) and ended at Inwood Hill Park.
Today is election day. People are voting for Dr. Jill Stein, Gary Johnson, Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton. Some people will Write-In Bernie Sanders.
The Nation, wrote the article Hillary Clinton’s Silence on Standing Rock Is a Moral Mistake—and a Political One.
“Sanders came out against the pipeline at a NODAPL rally near the White House in September and has issued increasingly stronger statements standing with Standing Rock. In mid-October, he and four other Democratic senators —Patrick Leahy, his counterpart from Vermont; Dianne Feinstein of California; Ben Cardin of Maryland; and Ed Markey of Massachusetts—sent President Obama a letter urging him to halt the pipeline.”_Evelyn Nieves
It’s clear that Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton support the Dakota Access Pipeline (DAPL). Dr. Jill Stein, the Green Party presidential candidate is a strong supporter of Native Americans. Stein joined the water protectors at Standing Rock in North Dakota and was arrested.

Media Release by the organizers.
“The ‘Dakota Access’ Pipeline (DAPL) is a $3.8B, 1,100 mile fracked-oil pipeline currently under construction from the Bakken shale fields of North Dakota to Peoria, Illinois. DAPL is slated to cross Lakota Treaty Territory at the Standing Rock Sioux Reservation where it would be laid underneath the Missouri River, the longest river on the continent.
The companies building DAPL were able to secure a $2.5 billion loan from a collection of banks to build the pipeline. But the pipeline companies can only access $1.1 billion of this loan until certain progress is made on the pipeline project. Three of the main lenders are Citigroup, TD Securities and Mizuho Bank.”
NYC Prayer March” has been organized by the Eagle and Condor Community Center as a direct action response to the injustices experienced by the Water Protectors at Standing Rock Sioux Reservation.
First Nations peoples will be leading the Prayer March with allies through the streets of Manahata (Manhattan Island) to support the Water Protectors at Standing Rock Sioux Reservation #SacredStoneCamps against the Lakota Access Pipeline.
We are organizing this Prayer March in solidarity with Standing Rock. We are against Violation of Indigenous Treaty Rights, Oil regimes, Militarization of the Police, Environmental Racism and the US Media Blackout. We are for the right to Assemble Peacefully, uphold the Freedom of Religion, and the right to Protect Sacred Water and our Earth Mother, so that we may preserve a sustainable future for the next 7 generations.

“On September 3, the Dakota Access pipeline company attacked Native Americans with dogs and pepper spray as they protested against the $3.8 billion pipeline’s construction. If completed, the pipeline would carry about 500,000 barrels of crude per day from North Dakota’s Bakken oilfield to Illinois. The project has faced months of resistance from the Standing Rock Sioux tribe and members of nearly 100 more tribes from across the U.S. and Canada.”_Democracy Now!
The United States government used dogs against African-Americans during the civil rights movement, too.
