Defend Black Lives, Defend Palestinian Lives (PHOTOS)!
Friday, August 14, 2020. New York City – Today I covered the rally and march “Defend Black lives, Defend Gaza!” Protesters gathered at Grand Army Plaza. After the rally, they marched to Senator Chuck Schumer’s luxury apartment at 9 Prospect Park West in Brooklyn.
Demonstrators burned the flags of Israel and the United States of America in front of Chuck Schumer’s luxury apartment. Activists chanted “Free Palestine,” “Death to America,” “Fuck imperialism,” “Black Power,” and “Fuck 12.”
After the action in front of Chuck Schumer’s luxury apartment, protesters marched a few more blocks where they ended the demonstration.
Liberty Socialist Front NYC said on Instagram, “The past few months have witnessed both an unprecedented rebellion against racism and police brutality in the so-called United States, which has been met by brutal repression. But this is only one side of the story. Halfway across the world, the illegitimate state of Israel has brought their campaign of anti-Palestinian ethnic cleansing and genocide to new heights, with the Netanyahu regime attempting to annex vast portions of the West Bank, while police killings of unarmed Palestinians are a regular occurrence.
In the last few weeks, the NYPD and the IDF soldiers who train them have both engaged in ever more violent methods of subjugation and counterinsurgency. The former agency has used unmarked vehicles, undercover agents, helicopters, mace, and an 800 man goon squad known as the Strategic Response Group to abduct, arrest, harass, surveil, terrorize anyone who opposes their murderous occupation of black and brown neighborhoods. Last Thursday, the IDF began raining bombs down upon the open air prison of Gaza, only days after several high profile killings of Palestinians by security forces.
Anytime an act of racist state sponsored terrorism occurs, whether it is perpetrated by Israeli colonizers or NYPD thugs, it is the duty of every caring person to oppose it. If we wish to abolish the police state and prison industrial complex, we must first abolish the genocidal state of Israel. America and Israel are two heads of the same monster of white supremacy and imperialism. Untold numbers of innocent civilians have been slaughtered in their respective quests for wealth and power.
On Friday, August 14th, we we will rally at Grand Army Plaza to voice our total opposition to NYPD repression and violence, to the Zionist occupiers and their bombing of Gaza, as well as our unyielding support for the Palestinian liberation struggle and the black lives matter movement.”
