Sunday, March 18th, 2012 – OWS NYC organized a march and vigil in support of those arrested in NYC, LA & Midwest Occupies on Saturday, March 17th. The Six Month Anniversay of the Occupy Movement. You can see pictures of the celebration in NYC here.

73 people were arrested in Zuccotti Park on 3/17/2012. 4 were arrested at Occupy LA on felony charges during an action yesterday and 14 arrests were made at Occupy The Midwest.

Occupy Wall Street posted two pictures of a NYPD officer arresting a dancer and grabbing his gun. RT America posted photos of protesters being arrested at Liberty Plaza. You can see the photos here.

According to Buildings Department expediter Richard Nagan and the President of the National Lawyers Guild – New York City Chapter (NLG-NYC), Gideon Oliver protesters were right. Closing Liberty Plaza (Zuccotti Park) by the NYPD this weekend was “totally illegal. The zoning resolution and the special permit call for the plaza to be open 24 hours a day 7 days a week.”

Gideon told the Village Voice, “It was unconstitutional, but it also violated city laws because it’s a privately-owned public space and it can’t be closed without going through city zoning process and that didn’t happen here.”

Protesters said on the website of Occupy Wall Street that it was time for another “Solidarity Sunday”.

They asked other protesters around the country to use “Solidarity Sunday” and express their support by organizing a march or vigil on 3/18/12 at a local police station to express their discontent with the police oppression.

These were some of the solidarity actions in the United States of America:

Boston, MA: Planning meeting – Bandstand, Boston Common, 6PM EST.
Chicago, IL: Lasalle and Jackson, 8pm CST.
New York, NY: OWS NYC is calling for a convergence at 8pm EST tonight at the red cube across from Liberty Plaza to support those arrested last night, and march against NYPD’s brutal attack on our peaceful assembly.
Oakland, CA: Occupy Oakland Rally and March at 5 PM PST tonight in solidarity. Meet at 19th and Telegraph Aves.
Portland, OR: some calls for solidarity march after GA
UC-Davis: call-out on Twitter for direct action at 5pm PT. check @OccupyDavis on Twitter.
San Diego, CA: There’s been a call for a march tonight in solidarity with #OWS. Meet at 6 at Freedom Plaza.
