Demandan a ICE la liberación de Nicoll Hernández-Polanco (FOTOS).

Jueves, 5 de Marzo, 2015 Ciudad de Nueva york – Hoy, un grupo de manifestantes se reunieron esta mañana frente al edificio de inmigración en la ciudad de Nueva York para demandar a ICE la liberación de Nicoll Hernández-Polanco, una mujer Trans de Guatemala.

La nieve y las bajas temperaturas no impidieron a este grupo de personas asistir a la manifestación.

Queer Detainee Empowerment Project, dijo en Facebook “La Señorita Nicoll Hernández-Polanco (A # 089 841 646), una mujer Trans de Guatemala , se encuentra actualmente detenida en un reclusorio para hombres en las instalaciones de detención de Internamiento de ICE en Florence, Arizona.

Nicoll llegó a Estados Unidos en busca de asilo en octubre 2014 porque se habia convertido en el blanco de ataques violentos, el acoso constante y la discriminación en su país de origen.

Por desgracia, a manos de ICE, Nicoll está siendo sometida al mismo tratamiento del que busca protegerse.

En su primer mes en prisión, Nicoll fue manoseada unas 6-8 veces al día por guardias de sexo masculino, también ella nos informó que le apretaban los pechos y las nalgas, mientras hacian comentarios y gestos sexuales ofensivos, y a veces hasta le jalan el pelo.

Además de acosar físicamente a Nicoll, el personal de ICE rutinariamente abusa verbalmente de ella.

Ha sido llamada “estúpida” y “la mujer con bolas” frente a otros inmigrantes detenidos.

Nicoll también ha sufrido abusos a manos de sus compañeros detenidos inmigrantes.

A principios de diciembre, Nicoll presentó una denuncia oficial después que otro inmigrante detenido la agredió sexualmente. Un hombre detenido con ella amenazó con meterla en un agujero, y uno le dijo que su garganta se cortó en su país. Ahora, el acoso y la hostilidad abierta se han vuelto tan grave que Nicoll tiene miedo de salir de sus dormitorios e ir a otro lugar en la instalación.

El bienestar de Nicoll y su salud mental están en riesgo todos los días que permanece detenida.

Nicoll fue castigada y puesta en confinamiento solitario por defender su dignidad humana recientemente.

A pesar de las peticiones de los abogados de Nicoll para liberla, el ICE se niega ha hacerlo y continúa ignorando las quejas de abuso y negligencia.”

Sus demandas son:
· Que ICE libere inmediatamente a Nicoll.
· Que La Casa Blanca / DHS definan a Nicoll y otras personas TLGBQ en la detención como un grupo vulnerable, cuya detención es “no en el interés público”.

¡Fin a la transfobia!
¡Fin al abuso de las mujeres trans en prisión!
¡Abolir la detención!
¡Libertad para nuestra hermana Nicoll!

Thursday, March 5th, 2015. New York City – Today, a group of demonstrators gathered this morning in front of the immigration building in NYC to demand to ICE the release of Nicoll Hernández-Polanco, a Trans woman from Guatemala.

The freezing temperatures and snow did not stop this group of activists from attending the rally.

Queer Detainee Empowerment Project, says on Facebook “Nicoll Hernandez-Polanco (A# 089 841 646), a transgender woman from Guatemala, is currently being detained in the all-male wing of ICE’s Florence Service Processing Detention facility in Florence, Arizona. Nicoll came to the United States seeking asylum in October 2014 because she was the target of violent attacks, constant harassment, and discrimination in her country of origin. Unfortunately, at the hands of ICE, Nicoll is now being subjected to the same treatment she seeks protection from.

In her first month in detention, Nicoll was patted down 6-8 times a day by male guards, who Nicoll reported would grope her breasts and buttocks, make offensive sexual comments and gestures, and sometimes pull her hair. In addition to physically harassing Nicoll, ICE staff routinely verbally abuse her. She has been called “stupid,” and “the woman with balls” in front of other detained immigrants.

Nicoll has also suffered abuse at the hands of her fellow detained immigrants. In early December, Nicoll filed an official complaint after another detained immigrant sexually assaulted her. A different man detained with her threatened to put her in a hole, and one told her that her throat would be slit in his country. Now, the harassment and overt hostility have become so severe that Nicoll is afraid to leave her sleeping quarters and go anywhere else in the facility.

Nicoll’s well-being and mental health are at risk every day she remains in detention. Nicoll was recently punished and placed in solitary confinement for standing up for her human dignity. Despite requests from Nicoll’s attorneys to release her, ICE has failed to do so and continues to ignore complaints of abuse and negligence.”

Their demands are:
· ICE to immediately release Nicoll from detention
· The White House/DHS to define Nicoll and other TLGBQ people in detention as a vulnerable group whose detention is “not in the public interest”

End transphobia!
End the abuse of trans women in detention!
Abolish detention!
Freedom for Nicoll!
