The second annual #QueeringImmigration Conference was at the the New School in New York City.
According to the Queer Detainee Empowerment Project (QDEP) “#qi2: Queering Immigration Conference is the largest gathering of LGBTQI immigrants/previously detained/asylum seekers, organizers, service providers, legal workers, healthcare providers, community healers, and more in the world. The conference topics range from asylee/asylum seeker issues, Know Your Rights trainings, the policing of our communities, Detention/Prison Divestment, HIV/AIDS, detention systems, solitary confinement, Transwomen Empowerment, how to organize systems of resistance, messaging, social media, life- post detention, refugees, alternative- to- detention building, program development, funding strategies/ workshops, skill shares, legal, and healing.”
