Monday, December 25th, 2017. New York City – Today some people celebrate Christmas. Tomorrow, Tuesday, December 26, its the first day of Kwanzaa (it’s an African American and Pan-African holiday celebrated by millions throughout the world African community). Some people do not celebrate religious celebrations. We have freedom of religion in this country. It’s their right to celebrate or not to celebrate religious celebrations. I celebrate life… and Winter. Dear Mother Nature, I am waiting for snow, lots of snow. Whatever you celebrate, enjoy it!

This year, Prospect Park celebrated its 150th Anniversary. In honor of Prospect Park, this year I chose 150 photographs and videos of 2017.

I have been enjoying Prospect Park for many years. Unfortunately, Prospect Park (like every other park in New York City) closes at night. I have talked to different people and we all agree that parks should be open day and night. Living in a big city like NYC, people need to go to parks. If Mexico, Russia and other countries can have their parks open 24/7, New York City can also has its parks open at night.

I started the year with the 113th Annual Coney Island Polar Bear New Years Day Plunge. I covered rallies, marches, festivals, parades. One of the most important marches I covered was the Women’s March in Washington D. C. Other important events were in support of Standing Rock. I traveled to Puerto Rico a few days before hurricane Maria arrived to the island (our Puerto Rican sisters and brothers still need our support). Mother Nature was present in my work all year round.

Fay Chiang passed away this year. I made several videos about her. Fay Ping Chiang was born in the Bronx, New York City on January 27, 1952. Fay passed away on October 20, 2017. Fay was the mother, sister, and comrade to many individuals and movements for justice, peace, and dignity.

Through my photography and videography work, I tell the world what I see and how I feel. I, an Indigenous Zapotec man from the mountains of the Mixteca in Puebla, Mexico, living in “The Naked City (NYC).”

This year, I included nude photographs. If you are offended by the human body, you can click here to see other pictures or you can go to Jupiter (you will never see a naked human body in Jupiter because… there are not humans in Jupiter!).

Lunes, 25 de Diciembre de 2017. Nueva York – Hoy algunas personas celebran la Navidad. Mañana, martes, 26 de diciembre, es el primer día de Kwanzaa (es una fiesta afroamericana y panafricana celebrada por millones en toda la comunidad africana mundial). Algunas personas no celebran celebraciones religiosas. Tenemos libertad de religión en este país. Es su derecho celebrar o no celebrar festejos religiosos. Yo celebro la vida… y el invierno. Querida Madre Naturaleza, estoy esperando nieve, mucha nieve. Lo que sea que celebres, ¡disfrútalo!

Este año, el Parque Prospect (en Inglés, Prospect Park) celebró su 150 aniversario. En honor al Parque Prospect, este año elegí 150 fotografías y videos del 2017.

He estado disfrutando de Prospect Park por muchos años. Desafortunadamente, Prospect Park (como cualquier otro parque en la ciudad de Nueva York) cierra por la noche. He hablado con diferentes personas y todas estamos de acuerdo en que los parques deberían estar abiertos día y noche. Viviendo en una ciudad grande como Nueva York, la gente necesita ir a los parques. Si México, Rusia y otros países pueden tener sus parques abiertos las 24 horas, la ciudad de Nueva York también puede tener sus parques abiertos por la noche.

Empecé el año con la Zambullida Anual Número 113 de Día de Año Nuevo de l@s Os@s Polares en Coney Island. Cubrí mítines, marchas, festivales, desfiles. Una de las marchas más importantes que cubrí fue la Marcha de las Mujeres en Washington D. C. Otros eventos importantes fueron en apoyo de Standing Rock. Viajé a Puerto Rico unos días antes de que el huracán María llegara a la isla (nuestras hermanas y hermanos puertorriqueños todavía necesitan nuestro apoyo). La Madre Naturaleza estuvo presente en mi trabajo durante todo el año.

Fay Chiang falleció este año. Hice varios videos sobre ella. Fay Ping Chiang nació en el Bronx, Nueva York, el 27 de Enero de 1952. Fay falleció el 20 de Octubre del 2017. Fay era la madre, hermana y compañera de muchas personas y movimientos por la justicia, la paz y la dignidad.

A través de mi trabajo de fotografía y videografía, le digo al mundo lo que veo y cómo me siento. Yo, un hombre zapoteco indígena de las montañas de la Mixteca en Puebla, México, que vive en “La Ciudad Desnuda (Ciudad de Nueva York).”

Este año, incluí fotografías de desnudos. Si el cuerpo humano te ofende, puedes oprimir aquí para ver otras fotos o puedes ir a Júpiter (nunca verás un cuerpo humano desnudo en Júpiter porque… ¡no hay humanos en Júpiter!).

Organizers said, “Trump just approved the Keystone XL Pipeline, putting our climate and communities in real danger. We’re saying: not on our watch.

With Trump regressing at the federal level, real climate action will come from states like New York. That’s why we need Gov. Cuomo to step up and be a real leader in the fight against climate change. He needs to eliminate climate pollution, protect low-income, frontline communities, and spark a revolution in good, green, union jobs.”

Las personas organizadoras dijeron: “Trump acaba de aprobar el oleoducto Keystone XL, poniendo en peligro nuestro clima y nuestras comunidades. Decimos: no bajo nuestra mirada.

Con Trump retrocediendo a nivel federal, la acción climática real vendrá de estados como Nueva York. Es por eso que necesitamos que el Gobernador Cuomo actúe y sea un verdadero líder en la lucha contra el cambio climático. The “Festival Folklórico Mexicano” in NYC celebrated its Quinceaños. 15 years of beautiful Mexican folk dances, music and delicious food. This is one of the most beautiful Mexican events in New York City.
