Thursday, June 4, 2020. New York City – Today, Our Revolution sent this message.
“In this moment of national crisis, with tensions exploding over police brutality, an ongoing pandemic, and soaring unemployment, it’s more important than ever to put progressives in power who are willing to stand up to corporate authoritarianism.
That’s why we are thrilled to report over 75% of Our Revolution’s endorsed candidates took on the establishment and WON BIG in Tuesday’s elections!
Insurgent progressive champion Nikil Saval — the cofounder of Our Revolution affiliate Reclaim Philadelphia — won his state senate race with 68% of the vote against an entrenched Democratic Party insider backed by the City Council president and PA’s governor.
Despite facing the establishment and all of their big-money firepower, Saval was powered to victory because he worked with our members to build a strong volunteer ground game.
PA State Rep. Summer Lee won 75% of the vote in her re-election bid even though the Allegheny County Democratic Party endorsed her opponent. With the support of Our Revolution Pittsburgh, she overcame their pro-fracking candidate’s disgusting negative ad blitz (which continued even after the ads were exposed as lies).
In Iowa, Bernie’s 2020 state co-chair Chris Schwartz defeated multiple establishment-backed candidates to win his race for Black Hawk County Supervisor.
In Montana, Rae Peppers, Andrea Olsen, Mary Ann Dunwell, and Sharon Stewart Peregoy each won their state legislature races, Tom Woods won his Public Service Commission race, and Shane Morigeau prevailed in his State Auditor contest! Our Revolution Montana made thousands of calls in support of these candidates.
And as militarized police occupied the streets of Washington D.C. Janeese Lewis George defeated an establishment-backed incumbent to win a City Council seat with the support of Our Revolution DC.
