The vigil was in Leif Ericson Park. There were several speakers. At the end, Muslims prayed.

There were many New York City Police Department (NYPD) officers outside the small park. They had a least one NYPD drone.

Before the vigil, there was a pro-Palestine rally and march by the Palestinian Assembly for Liberation [PAL]-Awda NY/NJ in the same neighborhood of Bay Ridge.

“HONOR THE MARTYRS OF GAZA: This past Sunday, our community gathered in Bay Ridge to remember and honor the martyrs of Gaza, those we know of and those whose names remain unknown.

After nearly 500 days of an unending assault on our land and our people, and with the martyrdom of an estimated hundreds of thousands of Palestinians in Gaza, we came together in rage and grief to mourn those whose lives were taken by the Zionist entity while remaining steadfast on their land. We were reminded by speakers from PYM, MAS Brooklyn, Pal-Awda, and the People’s Forum that our martyrs are the heart of our struggle, and that we honor their sacrifice through committing to the struggle for Palestinian liberation every single day. We were led in prayer by @masyouthcenter as well, ending the night with a dua for our martyrs and the people of Gaza and Palestine.

Glory to our martyrs,” said the said the New York City Chapter of the Palestinian Youth Movement on Instagram after the vigil.

“GLORY TO OUR MARTYRS: Join us Sunday, January 26th at 6 pm for a community gathering, prayer, & dua to honor the martyrs of Gaza and Palestine in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn at Leif Ericson Park (5th Ave and 67th Street).

After nearly 500 days of an unending assault on our land and our people, and with the martyrdom of an estimated hundreds of thousands of Palestinians in Gaza, we come together in rage and grief to mourn those whose lives were taken by the Zionist entity while remaining steadfast on their land. As the ceasefire takes effect and we can celebrate the release of hundreds of Palestinian prisoners, we also finally have a chance to properly honor our martyrs in Gaza who sacrificed for all of Palestine. Our martyrs are the heart of our struggle, and we remember them and keep them close as our fight towards liberation continues.

Glory to our martyrs. Ceasefire today, Liberation tomorrow,” said the New York City Chapter of the Palestinian Youth Movement on Instagram before the event.

Egypt, Jordan leaders reject Trump’s suggestion to take in Palestinians

“Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi and Jordan’s King Abdullah have rejected any forced displacement of Palestinians, days after United States President Donald Trump suggested that Arab countries take in Palestinians from the war-torn Gaza Strip.

But the idea of relocating Palestinians has long been rejected by Palestinians and regional countries, who say it would undermine the notion of Palestinian statehood and foment instability in the Middle East.

After the Israel-Hamas ceasefire took effect earlier this month, Trump touted a plan to “clean out” the Gaza Strip and relocate its residents to Jordan and Egypt. He returned to the idea this week, calling for Palestinians to move to “safer” locations such as Egypt or Jordan,” reported Al Jazeera on January 29, 2025.
