“NEW YORK: Today, the United States is pushing for a resolution at the UN Security Council that would effectively authorize an American occupation of Gaza with total US Israeli control over governance in Gaza and the Strip’s future.
This push sets an extremely dangerous precedent and is a threat to our people’s sovereignty and our cause aimed at liquidating Palestinian agency and the struggle for liberation.
So we’re protesting here as people of good conscience in New York and across the globe to say that we reject the board of peace, we reject US Israeli occupation of Palestine, of Gaza, and we demand an arms embargo and a free Palestine,” said the New York City Chapter of the Palestinian Youth Movement outside the U.S. Mission to the United Nations during the rally.
“We’re in front of the U.S. mission to the UN to say NO to a U.S.-backed UN Security Council resolution to form a “stability force” in Gaza. This draft resolution would authorize a U.S. occupation of the strip, with U.S.-Israeli control over governance. HANDS OFF GAZA!” said The New York City branch of the Party for Socialism and Liberation during the protest.
“With 13 votes in favor, 0 against, and Russia and China abstaining, the UN Security Council adopted a resolution on Monday evening that effectively greenlights the US occupation of Gaza. Under the adopted resolution, a Trump-led “Board of Peace” and “International Stabilization Force” will oversee a political transition in the Strip that puts them at the helm of governance in Gaza.
While the details of both the Board of Peace and ISF remain unclear, what is clear at this moment is that the US and imperialist powers are attempting to quietly and forcefully liquidate the Palestinian struggle, using the UN as an instrument to give this plan international legitimacy.
The adoption of the resolution by the UN Security Council is an alarming and dramatic escalation against the Palestinian people. From wherever we are, it is our duty to organize, agitate, and oppose Trump’s plan, which would amount to the destruction of Palestinian sovereignty, self-determination, and our people’s right to remain and return to all that is ours, from the river to the sea,” said the New York City Chapter of the Palestinian Youth Movement on Instagram after the rally.
“Trump’s UN Security Council Resolution to effectively occupy Gaza by the so-called “Board of Peace” passed 13-0-2 in favor of the occupation. This vote strips Palestinians of their right to self-determination and attempts to liquidate the Palestinian struggle.
After two years of arming and fully backing the genocide of hundreds of thousands of Palestinians in Gaza, the U.S. government cannot have any role in the governance of Gaza. Gaza is for Palestinians alone.
We will not be deterred from the ongoing struggle for a free Palestine. We demand an end to the genocide that rages as recently as today claiming lives through Israeli air strikes on Jabalia. The people of conscience worldwide won’t stop until Palestinians from the river to the sea wake up in a land free of occupation, genocide, and Western imperialism,” declared the Palestinian Youth Movement on Instagram on November 17, 2025.
