On April 30, 2024, pro-Palestine, anti-genocide, pro-peace, anti-war students occupied Hamilton Hall at Columbia University, renaming it “Hind’s Hall” in honor of Hind Rajab, a 6-year-old Palestinian girl murdered by Israeli terrorist forces.

April 30, 2026, marked two years since the New York City Police Department (NYPD) violently raided Hind’s Hall” at Columbia University and the Gaza Solidarity Encampment at the City College of New York.

After the rally outside Columbia University (116 Street and Amsterdam Ave), peaceful pro-Palestine, anti-genocide, pro-peace students and other New Yorkers marched to the City College of New York (Amsterdam Ave and West 139 Street).

Several people spoke outside Columbia University and outside the City College of New York.

New York City Police Department (NYPD) officers tried to force peaceful protesters to march on the sidewalk, but demonstrators resisted and kept marching in the street. NYPD cops were pushing protestors and journalists. Most of the NYPD officers were Black and Latinos, Latinas. While Israel is stealing land from Palestine, Lebanon and Syria and killing thousands of people in Palestine, Lebanon, Iran, Yemen, and Syria, NYPD officers harass, attack, arrest peaceful protesters. From October 2023 to October 2025, NYPD agents arrested thousands of peaceful pro-Palestine, anti-genocide students and other New Yorkers. NYPD officers also arrested journalists, including me, covering pro-Palestine demonstrations.

Despite attempts to block us, we took the streets & marched defiantly from Columbia University to the gates of CCNY!” said CUNY4Palestine on April 30, 2026.

“NYC college students and allies took to the streets on April 30, 2026, marching from Columbia University to City University of New York (CUNY), to emphasize the urgency of increasing the pressure on university administrations to divest from the genocidal Zionist entity, among other demands.
