“IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT: Plans have changed—the independence march is no longer happening tomorrow.
Due to the rain and the toxic atmosphere, and with everyone’s health in mind, we have decided to reschedule the march.
The safety of our community, the organizations, and the participants is paramount; we will select a new date very soon.
Thank you for your support; the struggle continues. See you in the streets,” said ProLibertad Freedom Campaign on July 17, 2026 (this is a translation from Spanish).
“Severe thunderstorms are hitting across New York City, and much of the city is under a flood advisory.
Don’t risk your safety in these dangerous conditions.
– Exercise caution while traveling.
– Take public transit whenever possible.
– Never walk, bike, or drive through floodwaters.
– If rain and storms are severe, seek shelter indoors and wait for conditions to improve before traveling. No destination is worth risking your safety.
– Strong winds can carry loose objects and down trees and power lines. Remain vigilant and go inside if winds pick up.
– Stay out of flooded basements,” said NYC mayor, Zohran Kwame Mamdani, on July 18, 2026.
In June 30, 2026, Puerto Rico marked a decade under “La Junta,” the Financial Oversight and Management Board (FOMB) established by the U.S. Congress through the PROMESA Act on June 30, 2016. Over the last ten years, the unelected board has held veto power over the territory’s budgets and overseen a massive restructuring of Puerto Rico’s $74 billion debt.
Critics condemn La Junta for an “unelected democratic deficit,” decades of severe austerity cuts to public services, and decaying infrastructure that has left many residents struggling.
“Corille! We call on all Puerto Ricans and allies to come together to denounce 10 years of La Junta and amplify the call for self determination, justice, and a free Puerto Rico. The U.S. occupation and corrupt local government continue to sell out our people for profit, and continue to displace our people due to worsening living conditions.
We invite our community to come together in solidarity, raise our voices, and demand a Puerto Rico WITH Puerto Ricans. ¡Independencia ya!
