The United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents can terrorize migrants thanks to republican and democrat politicians. ICE detention centers exist thanks to the Republican Party and the Democratic Party. ICE can function because of the billions of tax dollars democrats and republicans give to the ICE agency. The ICE TERROR is thanks to the Democratic Party and the Republican Party. Republican and democrat politicians are murdering undocumented migrants and US citizens who support migrants.

“On Monday August 31st, Pierre Damas Bel, a 20 year-old college student and Haitian immigrant took his own life after losing TPS and being forced to wear an ankle monitor by ICE. Pierre was a student, a son, and an athlete and he should still be with us today.

We honor his life and the life of all those taken at the hands of Trumps racist immigration policy. Join us on Friday, September 4th for a vigil to honor his life as we continue to fight and demand justice for Pierre and all victims of ICE terror,” said the New York City branch of the Party for Socialism and Liberation on September 2, 2026.

“SAY HIS NAME: Pierre Damas Bel, a 20-year-old Haitian student died by suicide after two months of dehumanizing treatment. One factor cited in the circumstances surrounding his death was that, as a former holder of Temporary Protected Status, he had been required to wear an ICE ankle monitor since July.

Pierre had recently graduated from high school, where he played varsity soccer, was a member of the National Honor Society, and participated in JROTC. He planned to study neuroscience at Wright State University in preparation for medical school.

Pierre’s family wants everyone to know that his death was a suicide. They have also been clear about who they hold responsible for his suffering: the immigration policies of President Donald Trump, Stephen Miller, Markwayne Mullin and the conditions those policies created for Pierre and thousands of other Haitians.

The loss of Pierre Damas Bel is a devastating tragedy. It is also not an isolated one. As long as this system continues its violent attacks on our neighbors, he will not be the last.

As members of the Caribbean community and people of conscience, we have a responsibility to stand in organized resistance with our Haitian neighbors in every neighborhood, every city, and every town.

Pierre believed it himself: Haitians deserve dignity, integrity, self-determination, and the opportunity to safely live within their communities—just like all workers do.
