113th Annual Coney Island Polar Bear New Years Day Plunge (PHOTOS/VIDEOS).

Monday, January 2nd, 2017. New York City – Yesterday, Sunday, January 1st, was the 113th Annual Coney Island Polar Bear New Years Day Plunge.

Lunes, 2 de Enero, 2017. Ciudad de Nueva York – Ayer, Domingo, 1 de Enero, fue la 113 zambullida Anual de Año Nuevo de las y los “Osas y Osos Polares” en Coney Island.

It was not really cold. Some participants said it was like Spring. Hundreds of people attended the event.

According to the Polar Bear Club, the organizers of the event, “The Coney Island Polar Bear Club is the oldest winter bathing organization in the United States.” They swim in the Atlantic Ocean at Coney Island every Sunday from November through April.
