Instead of covering the commercial, capitalist, imperialist Macy’s Parade, I covered the 23rd annual Turkey Trot: Race for Reconciliation.
The 23rd annual Turkey Trot: Race for Reconciliation, presented by Brooks Running, was a joyful 5-milerace through Prospect Park.
It was a nice cold Autumn morning in Prospect Park. Canada geese, ducks, swans and fish in the lake, beautiful colorful Autumn trees in the park and people running for a good cause.
According to the American Indian Community House, “this year’s race will honor Native Americans. A portion of the proceeds from the race will benefit the American Indian Community House Inc. in New York City.”
On the same day, “Since 1970, Indigenous people & their allies have gathered at noon on Cole’s Hill in Plymouth to commemorate a National Day of Mourning on the US Thanksgiving holiday,” says the United American Indians of New England.

“We’re proudly partnering with American Indian Community House (AICH) for the fourth year. AICH is an organization dedicated to promoting and improving the well-being of the American Indian community in New York and raising cultural awareness and respect,“ says Prospect Park Track Club on its website pptc.org.
