Hundreds of Palestinians, anti-zionist Jews and other pro-Palestine, anti-genocide New Yorkers protested against the sale of stolen land in Palestine and the settler recruitment event inside the Hilton hotel at 1335 6th Ave. Click here for more information.
I interviewed rabbi Yisroel Dovid Weiss, a member of the organization Neturei Karta International.
“Yesterday outside of an illegal sale of stolen Palestinian land in Manhattan, the NYPD kettled protesters, pushing the crowd into a small area with gates on all sides. These stolen land sales violate international law, but the NYPD continues to attack protesters, escort sale goers, and lock down entire blocks. NYPD Deputy Chief Timothy Beaudette can be heard here threatening to rip a woman’s hair off, and ordering officers to pull off protester’s masks,” said sammyrabbit on Instagram on Friday, May 29, 2026. There were many New York City Police Department (NYPD) officers protecting the criminals, the ones doing the illegal land sales inside the Hilton hotel.
Statement by Palestinian Assembly for Liberation
“Our Call for Accountability & Action: Stop the Sale of Stolen Palestinian Land.
Yesterday, Pal-Awda NY/NJ & our community members rallied in front of @NYHiltonMidtown Manhattan to protest the illegal “Jerusalem Real Estate Expo” & a @NefeshBNefesh-sponsored settler recruitment fair. Once again, we witnessed the blatant willingness of @NYPDPC (NYPD Commissioner, Jessica S. Tisch), empowered by state & city officials, to protect these settler-colonial events, illegal under international law.
Thursday’s events, open only to Jewish participants who underwent a vetting process to verify their religious affiliation, violated NY Property Law, NY Human Rights Law, state, federal civil rights laws & international law.
The exposition was hosted by Israel Builders Center, the Jerusalem Municipality, the Jerusalem Development Authority & My Israel Home, alongside the settler recruitment fair sponsored by settler agencies Ofek Israeli & Nefesh B’Nefesh (NBN), which Pal-Awda has repeatedly protested. To date, tens of thousands of NBN’s settler recruits have served in the genocidal Israeli Occupation Forces. Event organizers also boasted the guest appearance of Jerusalem’s zionist “mayor”, Moshe Lion.
We condemn the violent complicity of the @HiltonHotels, which served as a partner to initiatives that facilitate the pipeline of Americans settling on Stolen Palestinian Land, through the dispossession & expropriation of Palestinian communities.
The NYPD severely restricted our protest, freezing blocks, installing unprecedented zip-tied barricades, & kettling demonstrators. The notorious Strategic Response Group (SRG), which @NYCMayor (Zohran Kwame Mamdani) has long pledged to disband, was also on site.
Time & again, we witness the staunch commitment of the NYPD, state & city officials to protect these illegal events. While people in power have repeatedly weaponized rhetoric about protecting houses of worship to justify unprecedented anti-protest policing, it should be emphasized that this event was held at a hotel, not a house of worship. The extreme police presence only served to conceal & abet illegal Zionist land theft happening in our neighborhoods.
Our struggle does not occur in a vacuum. Just miles from New York–where the israeli-trained NYPD protects Zionist settler colonial activities–, our comrades incarcerated at Delaney Hall in New Jersey are hunger striking in protest of their brutal detention by @ICEgov, which similarly relies on the methods & technologies of the Zionist entity. Meanwhile, protesters outside the facility are being brutalized & attacked each night. We express our unequivocal solidarity with all those resisting the violence of Zionism & US empire.
After years of consistent protests, & a legal demand letter to the @NYStateAG (New York Attorney General Letitia James) by @PALwarcrimes (Palestinian Assembly for Liberation — P.A.L. Law Commission on Warcrimes, Justice, Reparations, & Return) that has yet to be answered or acknowledged, we continue to push for accountability & action. We again state our demands: the Mamdani administration must advance meaningful calls to AG Letitia James to investigate, audit & stop illegal Palestinian land sales; remove the tax exempt status of religious institutions & schools hosting these events; drop Jessica Tisch as Police Commissioner & disband the SRG, to curb the NYPD’s discriminatory targeting of our community. Further, we join New Yorkers in urging Mamdani’s NYPD to end its collusion with ICE, in light of its ongoing attacks & abuses.
When those in power fail to deliver accountability, it becomes our responsibility as people of conscience to continue to show up. We cannot be silent as the zionist settler-colonial project continues its violent genocidal expansion from within our neighborhoods.
Palestine is not for sale. No settlers on Stolen Palestinian Land,” said the organization PAL-Awda NY/NJ on X on Friday, May 29, 2026.

Statement by Palestinian Youth Movement
“Today, in Midtown Manhattan, settlers are gathering to sell and purchase stolen Palestinian land in an effort to further the displacement of Palestinians from their homes and communities. This is a blatant violation of international law and a direct extension of the ongoing dispossession and ethnic cleansing of the Palestinian people.
These events must be condemned by governments around the world and investigated by New York elected officials. We cannot allow the ongoing Nakba and theft of Palestinian land to be facilitated, normalized, or profited from in our own city.
We call on New York City and New York State officials to take immediate action to stop these illegal land sale events and ensure that New York is not used as a marketplace for the theft of Palestinian land and the displacement of its people,” said the New York City Chapter of the Palestinian Youth Movement on Instagram on Thursday, May 28, 2026.
