On Friday, September 4, 2026, New York City Police Department (NYPD) officers shot and murdered Chaun Bottom, a man on crisis, on the Brooklyn Bridge. On Monday, August 31, 2026, NYPD officers shot and killed Pamela Cisneros, a woman with mental health struggles, in Times Square.

NYPD officers threatened to arrest peaceful protesters if they used a microphone or megaphone. NYPD officers also threatened to confiscate the audio equipment and the megaphone from peaceful New Yorkers.

The boss of NYPD officers is New York City mayor, Democratic Socialist of America (DSA) Zohran Kwame Mamdani, a member of the Democratic Party.
On September 8, 2026, the New York Alliance shared a picture on Instagram and said, “Thank you to everybody who came out to demand an end to NYPD violence! Justice for Chaun Bottom! Community Control of the NYPD now!”

The NYPD shot another person in crisis early on Friday morning, the second fatal shooting in under a week. We must not allow the NYPD to get away with murder,” said the New York Alliance on September 4, 2026.
The New York Alliance will have a protest on Thursday, September 24, 2026 at 6pm. Outside the 71st Precinct located at Empire Blvd and New York Ave, to demand justice for Eudes Pierre who was murdered by NYPD officers Conrado Abreu-Gerez and Peter Lan while experiencing a mental health crisis on December 20, 2021.

It’s been over four years since Eudes Pierre was murdered by Conrado Abreu-Gerez and Peter Lan of the 71st Precinct while experiencing a mental health crisis. Both killer cops are still on the force, wielding a gun and a badge in our communities. This is unconscionable.
The NYPD would like us to forget, but we will always remember their crimes. To remind them, we’ll be picketing the 71st precinct on the last Thursday of every month until these killer cops are brought to justice.

SOME NYPD KILLER COPS
NYPD Thomas Gilligan, an off-duty lieutenant, shot and murdered 15-year-old James Powell in Harlem in 1964. A grand jury declined to indict Gilligan, and the incident sparked the historic 1964 Harlem riot.
NYPD Thomas Shea shot and murdered 10-year-old Clifford Glover in Queens in 1973. Shea claimed he thought Glover had a gun, but no weapon was found. Shea was acquitted of murder charges.
NYPD Louis Eppolito and Stephen Caracappa: Known infamously as the “Mob Cops,” these former NYPD detectives used their positions in the 1980s and early 1990s to pass information to the Lucchese crime family and actively participated in or carried out eight contract murders of civilians and mob rivals.
NYPD Stephen Sullivan shot and murdered Eleanor Bumpurs, a 66-year-old arthritic woman, with a shotgun during an eviction enforcement action in her Bronx apartment in 1984. Sullivan was acquitted of second-degree manslaughter.
NYPD Officer Francis Livoti murdered the son of Iris Baez, Anthony Baez, on December 22, 1994, using a chokehold that had already been banned by the NYPD (20 years before Eric Garner was murdered in the same way). The NYPD had explicitly banned the use of chokeholds in 1993, a year prior to the attack. NYPD killer cop Francis Livoti murdered Anthony Baez in the Bronx, after an errant football played by Baez and his brothers accidentally struck Livoti’s patrol car. In 1996, NYPD killer officer Francis Livoti was acquitted by a New York state judge. Following widespread public outcry, the U.S. Department of Justice intervened. In June 1998, a federal jury convicted Livoti of violating Anthony Baez’s civil rights. The federal judge explicitly stated during sentencing, “Mr. Livoti, you killed a man,” and sentenced him to 7.5 years in federal prison. He was released in 2005 after serving nearly his entire sentence.
NYPD Sean Carroll, Edward McMellon, Richard Murphy, and Kenneth Boss: These four plainclothes officers fired 41 shots at Amadou Diallo, an unarmed Guinean immigrant, outside his Bronx apartment in 1999. All four were acquitted of all criminal charges at trial.
NYPD Bryan Conroy, an undercover officer, shot and murdered Ousmane Zongo, an unarmed immigrant from Burkina Faso, during a raid on a counterfeit CD operation in a Chelsea warehouse in 2003.
NYPD Gescard F. Isnora and Michael Oliver: These detectives were among the officers who fired 50 shots at an unarmed Sean Bell and his friends outside a Queens strip club on the morning of Bell’s wedding in 2006. Isnora, Oliver, and a third detective were acquitted of all criminal charges at trial.
NYPD Richard Haste shot and murdered 18-year-old Ramarley Graham in the bathroom of Graham’s Bronx apartment in 2012. Haste’s manslaughter indictment was dismissed by a judge on a technicality, and a subsequent grand jury declined to re-indict him.
NYPD Daniel Pantaleo used a banned chokehold during the 2014 arrest of Eric Garner on Staten Island, which contributed to Garner’s death. Pantaleo was not indicted by a grand jury.
NYPD Wayne Isaacs, an off-duty officer, shot and murdered Delrawn Small during a road incident in Brooklyn in 2016. Isaacs was acquitted of murder and manslaughter charges at trial.
NYPD Leon Dinham, Anthony Bottiglieri, Bekim Molic, and Omar Rafiq shot and murdered Saheed Vassell, an unarmed man with mental illness on April 4, 2018.
NYPD officers Conrado Abreu-Gerez and Peter Lan shot and murdered Eudes Pierre while he was experiencing a mental health crisis on December 20, 2021.

Sunday, June 14, 2020. Brooklyn, New York City – Caribbean Americans gathered on Flatbush Ave and Church Ave in Flatbush and marched to Grand Army Plaza for a rally. Protestors demanded justice for George Floyd, Breonna Taylor and the many other people killed by police officers in the United States of America. They also demanded that Council members and NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio cut the NYPD budget by at least one billion. Allies of the Caribbean community joined the march and rally.
