Activists fought for many years to demand the legalization of same sex marriage. I covered some of the protests.
New York’s Marriage Equally Act was signed into law on June 24, 2011. On Sunday, July 24, 2011, the first same sex weddings were celebrated in New York State.
This same sex wedding was one of the first same sex weddings on Sunday, July 24, 2011.
