Michelle Rivera says, “On July 25, 2020, my father, Apolonio Rivera was tragically murdered, while he was peacefully spending some time with friends in New York City. He was a loving father, husband, grandfather and a great friend to all who knew him.
Polo, as he was called for short, was the primary provider for our family and an essential worker during this COVID-19 pandemic. He was a hard-working individual, that when he needed to, he worked two jobs back to back. For 25 years, he worked at Joon’s Westside Fish Market on 98th Street & Amsterdam, Upper West Side. Despite, all of this he always found time for friends, family and loved ones.
My dad, Polo was a man of presence, who kept his word, and was honest. He was known for his love of sports, from soccer, to basketball, and boxing. Polo will be missed by all those who were blessed to know him.
Our family, friends and loved ones are completely heartbroken and devastated by the news of his untimely departure due to the senseless actions of others. My dad, Polo was looking forward to retiring and spending more time with his family, and friends.
Losing a loved one is never easy especially in this manner and during this year. We are asking our friends and community to please help us raise funds for my dear dad, Apolonio Rivera’s funeral expenses in laying him to rest. From the bottom of our hearts, we appreciate any donation, no matter how small the amount in helping our family!
Thank you all and God Bless.
With love, the Rivera Family.”
