A New Direction for a Better New York.

Today, Thursday, October 22, 2020, Carlos Menchaca confirmed that he is running for Mayor of the beautiful New York City. Carlos launched his campaign with two ads. One in English and one in Spanglish (why not Spanish? I do not know).

On his website Carlos2021.com, Carlos says, “These are undoubtedly challenging times, but we must rise to that challenge with a bold, progressive plan and not retreat to the status quo that has failed us. We can do better and we must do better.

I have served on the city council for seven years fighting against economic inequality, heartbreaking deportations and systemic racism. This fight is personal for me.

Our campaign believes that leadership means listening to communities, letting them tell us what they need, and then implementing bold and effective policy solutions that truly improve people’s lives. I look forward to engaging with all of you throughout this campaign and hope you will join us in crafting a more equitable, more inclusive New York City!”

Juan Manuel Benítez, reporter of NY1 said in another tweet, “And don’t forget that about 3 in 10 New Yorkers are Latino. And they are one of the groups that’s suffering the most during this #COVID19 pandemic. @cmenchaca launches his campaign for NYC mayor with two ads, one in English and one in Spanglish.”

Pauline Park said on Twitter, “#CarlosMenchaca supports full #decriminalization of #sexwork while #EricAdams opposes it entirely — more than enough reason to consider supporting Menchaca for mayor of #NewYorkCity & rejecting Adams out of hand; it’s time to #decriminalize completely~!”

Carlos Menchaca is New York state and New York City’s first Mexican American elected politician. If Carlos Menchaca is elected, he would be the first Latino Mayor of New York City, the first openly gay Mayor and the first real progressive Mayor.
