New York City Mayor Eric Adams was booed at the Brooklyn Pride parade. Some attendees yelled profanities at Adams and flipped him the middle finger.

Reporter Jeff Coltin said on Twitter, “And the boos and jeers for Eric Adams just got way more intense around 5th Street. Somebody threw an empty water bottle at him.”

LGBTQIA+ people are not happy that Eric Adams appointed in February 2022 homophobe Christian Reverend Erick Salgado to lead the Mayor’s Office of Immigrant Affairs and Fernando Cabrera, a homophobe Christian pastor from the Bronx and a former City Council member as the senior adviser to the mayor’s new Office of Faith-Based and Community Partnerships.

New York City Dyke March
Saturday, June 25, 2022
5:00 PM
Bryant Park
Organizers say on www.nycdykemarch.com, “The New York City Dyke March is a protest march, not a parade. The March is a demonstration of our First Amendment right to protest and takes place without permits or sponsors. We recognize that we must organize among ourselves to fight for our rights, safety, and visibility. Thousands of Dykes take the streets each year in celebration of our beautiful and diverse Dyke lives, to highlight the presence of Dykes within our community, and in protest of the discrimination, harassment, and violence we face in schools, on the job, and in our communities.”

QUEER LIBERATION MARCH
Sunday, June 26, 2022
1:00 PM to 5:30 PM

The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Intersex, Asexual, Two-Spirit Plus (LGBTQIA2S+) people’s march will take place on Sunday, June 26th, starting in Foley Square at 2 PM and ending in Washington Square Park.”

Brooklyn Pride

“Brooklyn Pride is a 501(c)(3) wholly volunteer-managed, tax-exempt, non-profit organization working for and on behalf of all Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Brooklynites and all others who support the struggle for equality of this Community. In the spirit of Stonewall, Brooklyn Pride welcomes the participation of all the residents of Brooklyn and the outer boroughs, regardless of age, creed, gender, gender identification, HIV status, national origin, physical, mental or development disability, race, religion, or sexual orientation.

LGBTQIA+ Brooklynites had traditionally crossed over the bridge to Manhattan seeking the gay community. In 1996 several Brooklynites looked to create a new opportunity, whereby local organizations, businesses, friends and supporters of equal rights for all could come together in solidarity and celebration and bring visibility to the multi-cultural gay community in the borough. A new organization was founded – Brooklyn Pride, Inc.

Over the years, Brooklyn Pride has grown to become the largest and most prominent organization serving Brooklyn’s LGBTQIA+ community. Although Brooklyn Pride’s primary mission is to produce the borough’s annual pride events, the organization actively works to bring pride year round to every Brooklyn neighborhood.”
