Voices from the protest: “STOP THE SALE OF STOLEN PALESTINIAN LAND” in Manhattan.

Saturday, May 9, 2026. Manahatta, Lenapehoking (Manhattan, New York City) – On Tuesday, May 5, 2026, Jews were selling and buying STOLEN PALESTINIAN LAND at the Park East Synagogue in Manhattan, New York City. Hundreds of peaceful New Yorkers, including anti-zionist Jews, protested the illegal sale of STOLEN land in Palestine (Israel is also STEALING land in Lebanon and Syria).

The protest “STOP THE SALE OF STOLEN PALESTINIAN LAND” was organized by PAL-Awda NY/NJ.

The protest was going to be outside the Park East Synagogue at 163 East 67 Street on the Upper East Side of Manhattan, but New York City Police Department (NYPD) officers closed several streets around the building. Protestors were NOT outside the Synagogue. I covered the demonstration at the corner of East 68 Street and Lexington Ave. Click here to read more.

I interviewed Rabbi Dovid Feldman, a member of the organization Neturei Karta International.

Our community remains undeterred: STOP THE SALE OF STOLEN PALESTINIAN LAND

“On Tuesday, PAL-Awda NY/NJ and hundreds of our community members protested the illegal “Great Israeli Real Estate Event of 2026” in Manhattan. The event openly promoted real estate on #StolenPalestinianLand, violating local, federal, and international law.

Depite a brutal police response emboldened by lawmakers who seek to protect these criminal events, New Yorkers have made it clear: our community remains undeterred in the face of intimidation, and we will continue to stand against the sale of stolen Palestinian land in our neighborhoods.

Tuesday’s event was hosted by Israeli real estate companies Home in Israel, Emanuel Group, and International Marketing and Promotion, in partnership with Israeli Leumi Bank. Event organizers advertised properties in Gush Etzion, Kfar Eldad, Karnei Shomron, among others– all illegal settlements in the occupied West Bank.

The event also provided prospective settlers financial guidance to buy property in “Anglo neighborhoods,” expediting ethnic cleansing in all of Palestine, and furthering the dispossession on which the colonial Zionist project is built.

The participating real estate companies shamefully chose to hide their illegal event in the Park East Synagogue on the Upper East Side, the same synagogue that hosted an illegal settler recruitment fair in November 2025.

Tuesday’s protest reminded these land-thieving agents and their Zionist collaborators that we will continue to show up whenever and wherever these sales occur. We reject all attempts to distract from the reason for our principled protest.

Tuesday’s rally was the first against illegal Israeli real estate events since the introduction of state and city-level bills that attempt to establish unconstitutional anti-protest “buffer zones.”

Despite the NYPD forcing us to hold our demonstration 300 feet away from the land sale, NYPD officers violently kettled, barricaded, brutally grabbed, pushed, and pepper-sprayed pro-Palestine protesters while protecting Zionist counter agitators, including members of Betar, who tried to grab and push those present.

We condemn the complicity of elected officials and people in power, who have shielded criminal, genocide-supporting Zionist agencies, instead of protecting the rights and interests of their own constituents.

While @NYCMayor criticized Tuesday’s real estate event, his words rung hollow when the NYPD brutalized New Yorkers for standing up against stolen Palestinian land sales in our neighborhoods, and when there is no response to actionable calls for accountability.

In March of 2024, Palestinian lawyers @PALwarcrimes and advocates submitted an official demand letter to the @NewYorkStateAG, calling for an audit and investigations of these illegal events. To this day, our community is awaiting a response.

Tuesday’s event violated New York Property Law, New York Human Rights Law, state and federal real estate and housing laws, and international laws, amongst others. City and state officials have the power—and the responsibility—to respond to our calls for action.

We reaffirm our demands to the Mamdani administration to advance meaningful calls to the Attorney General to investigate, audit and stop stolen Palestinian land sales, remove the tax exempt status of those hosting these events; drop @NYPDPC as Police Commissioner; and disband the Strategic Response Group, in order to curb the NYPD’s discriminatory targeting of our community. We continue to look towards the steadfast people of Gaza and across Palestine as we protest and disrupt. So long as there is impunity in our neighborhoods for the theft of Palestinian land, we refuse to remain silent.

Palestine is not for sale. No settlers on stolen land,” said PAL-Awda NY/NJ on Wednesday, May 6, 2026.

OUR HOMELAND IS NOT FOR SALE: ON ZIONIST LAND SALES AND NYPD REPRESSION.

On Wednesday, May 6, 2026, New York City Chapter of the Palestinian Youth Movement said, “We salute @palawda for bringing together hundreds of New Yorkers to reject the presence of events that sell stolen Palestinian land in our city. We condemn the NYPD’s violent suppression of protestors in order to protect a land sale event that itself violates both international and domestic laws. Our homeland will never be for sale.

Our movement will continue to resist the continued genocide, displacement, and ethnic cleansing of our people, anywhere it happens.” Click here to read the full statement.

On May 5, 2026, Fadi share a video on X and said, “A Zionist assaulted a woman.
NYPD escorted him out.
Two hours later he attacked someone else.
Jessica Tisch’s protocol is Zionist impunity.
Nearly every time I’ve seen a Zionists assault somebody at a protest the past few years, this is exactly what happens.
@NYCMayor Zohran Kwame Mamdani drop Tisch.”

NYPD detective badge #2429 (maybe his name is Jamil Khan: www.50-a.org/officer/TF3T) violently shoved me while I was on the sidewalk filming NYPD officers and the zionist who attacked the woman and the other person. NYPD Rivera badge #3816 (www.50-a.org/officer/9V5X) didn’t arrest the zionist attacker. Search for NYPD officers on www.50-a.org.

In a statement on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, Sam Raskin, mayoral spokesperson told Hell Gate: “Mayor Mamdani is deeply opposed to the real estate expo this evening that includes the promotion of the sale of land in settlements in the Occupied West Bank. These settlements are illegal under international law and deeply tied to the ongoing displacement of Palestinians.”

If “Mamdani is deeply opposed,” why did he and zionist Jessica Tisch, the NYPD Commissioner send an army of NYPD officers to harass, attack, arrest, pepper spray New Yorkers protesting against the sale of STOLEN PALESTINIAN LAND at the Park East Synagogue?

New York City mayor, Democratic Socialist of America (DSA) Zohran Kwame Mamdani defended the NYPD’s response. “We in this city believe in the sacrosanct nature of the right to protest, and also are committed to ensuring any New Yorker can safely enter or exit from a house of worship, and that access never be in question while we also protect the first amendment. And I do believe the police ensured that yesterday evening,” Mamdani said on Wednesday, May 6, 2026.

“NYPD set up frozen zones 300 feet away. Protestors were kettled, beat and pepper sprayed to help facilitate a real estate event you claim to oppose. The SRG, who you promised to disband, drove motorbikes into protestors. Tell us how you are preserving New Yorkers right to protest,” said PAL-Awda NY/NJ in response to Zohran Mamdani on Wednesday, May 6, 2026.

PAL-Awda NY/NJ added, “@NYCMayor praising his nypd thugs who beat and pepper sprayed protestors in defense of a criminal land sale that he ‘disagrees’ with. If you want protestors to be far away from houses of worship then shut the fucking sales down.”

On May 6, 2026, in response to Mamdani, Ali said, “Press were blocked from getting near the illegal land sale. NYPD set up a buffer zone more than 200 feet away. The whole area was a frozen zone multiple blocks were shutoff from 66th to 69th. NYPD attack people as they marched on the sidewalks.”

On May 6, 2026, Ryan Taylor said, “@NYCMayor it’s not antisemitism to protest against ILLEGAL land sales just because they’re being held in a religious building. They’re held there as an excuse to spew the “antisemitism” card. Taxpayer funds shouldn’t be spent protecting people breaking international law.”

The New York Civil Liberties Union criticized the NYPD’s use of pepper spray against protestors.

“The right to protest is under attack nationwide—and last night made it clear that New York isn’t exempt. This unprecedented no-speech zone is a blatant crackdown on our First Amendment rights.?
?
This is unacceptable. Take action to support freedom of protest,” said the New York Civil Liberties Union, on May 6, 2026.
