Pro-Palestine, anti-genocide New Yorkers gathered outside The New York Times.
“Israel’s targeting of journalists is an intentional policy to suppress coverage of its war crimes. Mainstream media outlets like the New York Times have actively enabled this policy, manufacturing consent for this genocide from the beginning,” said the New York City Chapter of the Palestinian Youth Movement.
Despite the downpour, peaceful protesters marched along 8th Avenue to 46th Street and then to Times Square, near the red stairs, where several people spoke in support of journalists in Palestine. They concluded the protest and invited everyone to their next event.
“KEEPING THE RECORD ALIVE: A Tribute to Anas al-Sharif and Gaza’s Journalists” will be on Friday, August 14, 2026. 6:30 PM. Riverside Church (490 Riverside Dr) in Manhattan, New York City. More information below.
From October 2023 to October 2025, New York City Police Department (NYPD) officers arrested THOUSANDS of peaceful pro-Palestine, anti-genocide students and other New Yorkers. NYPD cops also arrested journalists covering peaceful pro-Palestine protests.
The Democratic Party and the Republican Party in the United States of America have always supported the zionist, apartheid, terrorist entity.
Republican and Democrat politicians give Israel BILLIONS of our US tax dollars. For decades, millions of people in the United States have been demanding that democrats and republicans stop giving Israel our tax money and invested in our country.

“I Entrust You With Palestine” The final words of Anas Al-Sharif. Al Jazeera journalist, martyred in Gaza on August 10, 2026. Image by entrustedwithpalestine.com.
On Monday, August 10, 2026, the Palestinian Youth Movement shared a video about Palestinian journalist Anas Al-Sharif and said, “Anas Jamal Mahmoud al-Sharif was born in Jabalia Refugee Camp on December 3, 1996 to a family from al-Majdal. He admired the field of journalism from a young age, and began working in journalism shortly after graduating from Al-Aqsa university in 2018. Before the genocide, he notably covered and was injured during the 2018-2019 Great March of Return.
Anas only became a correspondent with Al-Jazeera shortly after the genocide began. His coverage was invaluable in delivering the pain of the people of Gaza to the world. He worked tirelessly to provide coverage, remained and reported from North Gaza after many had evacuated, and watched many of his colleagues be targeted and killed, the same way Israel threatened him since the start of the genocide. In fact, Anas’ house was targeted in December 2023 and his father, Jamal Al-Sharif, was killed.
Anas loved life. He loved his wife, his children, his family. He dreamed of being reunited with them, but vowed to never leave Gaza. Anas mentored the younger journalists. He was known for his humility and closeness to his people. He repeatedly spoke on his responsibility as a journalist, but especially his responsibility to his homeland. Anas said that reporting from Gaza is not just a job, it is a cause. Because he refused to back down, Anas was martyred on August 10th, 2025, alongside five of his colleagues.
“I have lived through pain in all its details, and I have tasted loss and grief many times. Yet I never once hesitated to convey the truth exactly as it was, without falsification or distortion, so that God may bear witness against those who stayed silent, those who accepted our killing, those who suffocated our breath, and those whose hearts were unmoved by the torn bodies of our children and women, and who did nothing to stop the massacre our people have endured for more than a year and a half.” – Anas Al-Sharif, North Gaza, 1996-2025.
Join us in honoring Anas and all those who sacrificed on the path to liberation: entrustedwithpalestine.com.”

“On August 14, Writers Against the War on Gaza, the Palestinian Youth Movement, and the Palestinian Feminist Collective will honor the life and struggle of Anas al-Sharif, to mourn his martyrdom and that of his colleagues, and to understand explicitly how it is that mainstream western media enabled their deaths to occur unabated.
Beginning before the onset of the genocide, we will hear from Anas’s colleagues, mentors, and friends, across all sectors and ages to learn how Gaza’s journalists grew and transformed as the genocide accelerated. Among them are his nephew, the Palestinian journalist Mosab al-Sharif, his mentor Imad Zakout, whom Anas has described “as a father and a teacher in this field,” and Hossam Shabbat’s brother Wissam, who has dedicated himself to continuing the legacy of Gaza’s journalists, a torch they all take from both Anas and Hossam.
Central to this event will be the launch of Writers Against the War On Gaza’s “The Living Record,” an oral archive composed of more than 50 eulogies delivered by journalists across the Gaza Strip. These eulogies document the ever-growing loss that Gaza’s journalists and reporters have had to endure, and, more importantly, why it is they have continued onwards.
This event culminates the Palestinian Youth Movement’s Week of Action which will began at the anniversary of Anas al-Sharif’s martyrdom on August 10,” said Writers Against the War on Gaza on July 30, 2026.
The Palestinian Youth Choir will perform at the Riverside Church
“This Friday, August 14th, join the Palestinian Youth Choir for a performance honoring the lives and sacrifices of our martyred journalists.
At this event, “KEEPING THE RECORD ALIVE: A Tribute to Anas al-Sharif and Gaza’s Journalists,” we will hear from Anas’s colleagues, mentors, and friends, from all sectors and across all ages to learn how Gaza’s journalists grew and transformed as the genocide accelerated.
