Thursday, September 3, 2026, marked 8 months since the president of the United States of America, war criminal, corrupt, zionist, AIPAC, supporter of the Israel genocide and ethnic cleansing in Palestine and Lebanon Donald Trump bombed Venezuela, murdered at least 100 people from Venezuela and Cuba and KIDNAPPED President Nicolás Maduro and First Combatant Cilia Flores.
On Wednesday, September 2, 2026, President Nicolás Maduro‘s defense attorneys in New York City Barry Pollack and Anna Estevao filed a 60-page motion in Manhattan federal court asking U.S. District Judge Alvin Hellerstein to dismiss the drug-trafficking and narco-terrorism indictment against Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores.
Attorneys argue that President Nicolás Maduro holds absolute sovereign immunity as a foreign head of state and conduct-based immunity, making the prosecution an unprecedented violation of international law.
“No American court has ever presided over the criminal trial of a foreign leader who was recognized by their own country as the sitting head of state at the time the charges were brought. That is not an accident of history. It reflects a rule older than the common law: heads of state are exempt from the criminal process of any national court but their own,” the lawyers wrote.
U.S. prosecutors have until Friday, October 2, 2026, to respond to the motion, and Judge Hellerstein scheduled oral arguments for Tuesday, November 17, 2026, on motions to dismiss the indictment.
Supporters of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and Venezuelan First Combatant Cilia Flores will be outside the court on November 17, 2026.
President Maduro and First Combatant Flores are scheduled to go on trial on drug trafficking charges on June 1, 2027.
Protests, rallies, marches have been held outside the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, New York, and at various other locations in Manhattan, New York City, to demand the release of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and First Combatant Cilia Flores.
Demonstrators have called for the immediate release of Maduro and Flores, labeling their detention illegal, while voicing opposition to U.S. military intervention and foreign policy in Venezuela and in Latin America.
“Join us for our monthly picket in front of the MDC! It has been 8 months since the US illegally kidnapped President Nicolas Maduro and First Lady Cilia Flores from Venezuela. We will not stop, we will not rest until they are freed!
NO U.S. INTERVENTION!
FREE MADURO, FREE FLORES!
MONEY FOR JOBS AND EDUCATION, NOT FOR WAR AND OCCUPATION!” said Brooklyn Against War on August 22, 2026.
