President of Cuba
On Friday, July 16, 2021, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, president of Cuba said, “If President Joseph Biden had sincere humanitarian concern for the Cuban people, he could eliminate the 243 measures applied by President Donald Trump, including the more than 50 cruelly imposed during the pandemic, as a first step towards ending the blockade.
A failed state is one that, in order to please a reactionary and blackmailing minority, is capable of multiplying the damage to 11 million human beings, ignoring the will of the majority of Cubans, Americans and the international community.
In the US, due to the ineffectiveness of his government, many of the 600 thousand deaths from Covid-19 could not be saved. It has a shameful record of wars and violence; brutal repression and killings of citizens by the police; racism and human rights violations.
The United States has failed to destroy Cuba even though it has wasted billions of dollars to do so. #EliminaBloqueo y #VamosAVerComoTocamos .”

Mexican president Andrés Manuel López Obrador supports Cuba.
On Monday, July 12, 2021, during the press conference of Mexican president Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO), a conservative journalist asked AMLO about Cuba. Mexican president said, in part, “If you want to help Cuba, the first thing you should do is suspend the blockade against Cuba as requested by most of the countries of the world.”
AMLO also said Mexico can help Cuba with food and medicines, if the Cuban government requests it.
On Wednesday, June 23, 2021, 184 countries voted in the United Nations against the blockade of the United States of America against Cuba. Three countries abstained: Colombia, Ukraine and Brazil. Two countries voted to continue with the blockade: The United States of America and Israel.
On Tuesday, July 13, 2021, during the press conference of Mexican president Andrés Manuel López Obrador, another conservative journalist asked AMLO about Cuba. The president reiterated that the US blockade against Cuba must end and that the Mexican government is ready to help Cuba.
Cuban ambassador to Mexico, Pedro Núñez Mosquera, thanked President Andrés Manuel López Obrador for his support in the face of what he described as a broadside orchestrated from the United States of America.

Leaders from around the world support Cuba.
On Tuesday July 13, 2021, former president of Bolivia, Evo Morales Ayma said, “Our solidarity with our brothers and sisters Cuban people. The real fight for freedom in #Cuba is to end the criminal blockade of more than 60 years.”
Evo Morales added, “Every day evidence shows that the US destabilizes democracies in Latin America with the complicity of the Organization of American States (OAS) manipulated by Almagro.”
On Monday, July 12, 2021, Lucho Arce, president of Bolivia said, “We express our full support for the Cuban people in their fight against destabilizing actions. The more the Cuba government advances in health and science, the more it faces misinformation and foreign attack. The problems in Cuba must be solved by Cubans, without any interference, much less by those who have maintained a criminal blockade for 60 years.”
“At the G20 I asked for the blockades to be lifted. They are doing incalculable damage to Cuba, they prevented it from accessing respirators. There is nothing more inhumane in a pandemic than to block a country economically.”_Alberto Fernández, president of Argentina.
“I ratify President Diaz Canel, the People and the Revolutionary Government of Cuba, all the support of Venezuela. Brothers and sisters, through thick and thin! If the US really wants to help Cuba, let it immediately lift the sanctions and the blockade against its people.”_Nicolás Maduro, president of Venezuela.
“Cuba has already suffered 60 years of US economic blockade, even more so with the pandemic, it is inhumane… you didn’t see any soldier in Cuba with his knee on a black man’s neck, killing him… Cuba’s problems will be solved by Cubans. If Cuba didn’t have a blockade, it could be a Netherlands. It has an intellectually prepared, highly educated people. But Cuba has not even been able to buy respirators because of an inhuman US blockade. Americans need to stop this grudge. Blocking is a way to kill human beings who are not at war. What is the US afraid of? I know what one country is trying to interfere with another. Biden should take advantage of this moment to go on television and announce that it will adopt the recommendation of countries at the UN to end this blockade.”_Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, former president of Brazil.
“We reject the U.S. government’s economic blockade of Cuba. We ask the U.S. Congress to lift the embargo and restore normal diplomatic relations and respect for national sovereignty, and demand that the U.S. government end its veto of U.N. resolutions pertaining to Cuba.”_Green Party of the United States of America.

From Cuba to Palestine imperialism is a crime.
Within our Lifetime • United for Palestine said on social media, “#GlobalizeTheIntifada — In the past week, the US empire has bared its fangs in the Caribbean, threatening military intervention in Haiti and Cuba on the heels of the assassination of Haitian President Jovenel Moïse on July 7th and CIA-backed “opposition” protests in Cuba on July 11th.
As anti-imperialists, Within Our Lifetime opposes all US intervention in Haiti, Cuba and the entirety of the Caribbean, and we stand in solidarity with the Haitian and Cuban people as they continue to fight for their self-determination in the face of ongoing US aggression.
After 120 years of US occupation of Guantanamo Bay in Cuba and 60 years of US blockade, the Cuban people continue to resist US imperialism, just as the Haitian people continue to resist after living under decades of US military occupation and intervention dating back to 1915.
While recent events in the Carribean might not seem connected to Palestine at first glance, they are in more ways than one.
At the United Nations the zionist entity is the only “state” that has stood by the US in voting against ending the US blockade of Cuba, with the most recent vote taking place last month, 184-2. As the entire rest of the world stands with Cuba, the US and israel remain the enemies of all colonized and oppressed people.
In June 1959, less than 6 months after the victory of the Cuban Revolution, a Cuban delegation led by Che Guevara and Raul Castro arrived in Gaza in what marked the first meeting between the Cuban and Palestinian freedom fighters.
Since then, Cuban-Palestinian solidarity has embodied how the global struggle against US imperialism inevitably leads to the linking of arms of those living under its grip.
#GlobalizeTheIntifada is not a symbolic statement but a material fact. It means connecting the dots between our struggles through education and through direct action so that people understand that defending the right of the Palestinian people to resist zionist occupation means defending the right of the Cuban people to resist US imperialism. With no exceptions.”
Within our Lifetime • United for Palestine invite people to two demonstrations. The first demonstration is on Saturday July 17th, 2021 at 5 PM at Avenue C & McDonald Avenue in Brooklyn in the heart of the Bangladeshi community in defense of Silwan and ALL of Palestine. The second demonstration is on Sunday, July 25th, 2021 at 6:00 am (1210 Corbin St. Elizabeth, NJ 07201). After leading the first ever Palestine protest at the Port of New York and New Jersey last month, they will return to Maher Terminal.

Black Lives Matter supports Cuba
On Wednesday, July 14, 2021, the organization Black Lives Matter (BLM) posted a statement on Facebook.
“Black Lives Matter condemns the U.S. federal government’s inhumane treatment of Cubans, and urges it to immediately lift the economic embargo,” they said.
BLM said, “the people of Cuba are being punished by the U.S. government because the country has maintained its commitment to sovereignty and self-determination,” adding, “United States leaders have tried to crush this Revolution for decades.”
“Instead of international amity, respect, and goodwill, the U.S. government has only instigated suffering for the country’s 11 million people- of which 4 million are Black and Brown,” Black Lives Matter wrote.
BLM said, “Now, we look to President Biden to end the embargo, something Barack Obama called for in 2016. This embargo is a blatant human rights violation and it must come to an end.”
