Community Carnival in Brooklyn, NYC (PHOTOS/VIDEO).

Sunday, September 6, 2020. Brooklyn, New York City – Today I covered the “Community Carnival” at Grand Army Plaza in Brooklyn, New York City.

Jabari Brisport was one of the speakers today. Jabari is the Democratic nominee for New York’s 25th State Senate district general election to be held on Tuesday, November 3, 2020. Most voters in the 25th State Senate District are Democrats which is nearly a guarantee of winning the general election. District 25 covers a stretch of eastern and north-central Brooklyn, including the neighborhoods of Fort Greene, Boerum Hill, Red Hook, Bedford-Stuyvesant, Sunset Park, Gowanus, and Park Slope.

Jabari Brisport will be the next New York State senator in District 25. Jabari will be the first openly gay Black New York state Senator. Click the link for more info: https://jabariforstatesenate.com/

Jabari Brisport said Black Lives Matter, Black Caribbean Lives Matter, Black Cisgender Lives Matter, Black LGBT Lives Matter, All Black Lives Matter. Jabari asked people to fill out the census and to vote on November 3, 2020.

September 30 is the last day for households to self-respond online, by phone or by mail. You can complete the census online. https://2020census.gov/en.html

The four main candidates for president in 2020 are:
Howie Hawkins (Green Party USA).
Jo Jorgensen (Libertarian Party).
Joe Biden (Democratic Party).
Donald Trump (Republican Party).
List of third party and independent candidates for the 2020 United States presidential election: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Third_party_and_independent_candidates_for_the_2020_United_States_presidential_election

Ankita Rao wrote the article “Bernie or bust: a centrist Democrat is still as bad as Trump for some on left” on The Guardian. Ankita writes, ““I don’t want to vote for Joe Biden and I don’t want to vote for Trump,” said Jason Kishineff, who is running for city council in American Canyon, California. “I think either choice is going to lead to human extinction.”

Kishineff is part of a progressive, far-left group of voters who say they will not vote for Biden, even if it means a Trump victory, largely because of the candidate’s failure to adopt a progressive agenda on healthcare, mass incarceration, the environment and policing.”

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, J’ouvert and the 53rd Annual New York Caribbean Carnival were cancelled. The online Carnival celebration will start at 9:00AM EST on Monday, Sept. 7th, 2020.

The Wide Awakes and Large Up said on Instagram: “We celebrate and honor the beauty and brilliance of Caribbean culture. As many of you all know, due to COVID-19, the annual West Indian Day parade is going virtual this year.

With love and in solidarity, The Wide Awakes and Large Up are excited to amplify the voices of our Caribbean brothers and sisters with a fun filled day of unity and empowerment.

As always, we welcome diversity and inclusion while creating collective joy through, uplifting, artistic civic engagement.”

The Caribbean Parade on Eastern Parkway is one of the best parades in New York City. I have been covering the parade for many years. Click the link to see photos from past years: https://www.javiersoriano.com/2020/08/25/2020-caribbean-parade-cancelled/
