Mexicanos Unidos to Biden and Harris: No More Kids In Cages!

Updated on Friday, March 12, 2021.

Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, and all the ex presidential candidates of the Democratic Party said they did not want children inc ages, but more than 3,250 children are being held in packed, jail-like facilities along the US-Mexico border.

There are more than 3,250 migrant children in Customs and Border Protection facilities. CBP stations, which migrants have dubbed “dog kennels” and “ice boxes,” have cinder-block cells meant to hold adult migrants.

“The Biden administration has continued the Trump-era policy of using public health law to rapidly expel most migrant adults and families from the southern border,” reports CBS News.

According to the New York Times, more than 1,360 kids have been detained for more than 72 hours, the point by which they must be transferred to shelters under law.

The Customs and Border Protection facilities have been criticized for their crowded, squalid conditions, particularly troubling amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

2019 – 2020 Democrat candidates used immigrant children to get votes. In 2019, Kamala Harris said, detaining children “is a human rights abuse being committed by the United States government.” Harris described seeing “children lined up like prisoners” as heartbreaking. Today, Kamala Harris and Joe Biden are putting kids in cages.

Brian, comandante Aide and comandante Yessenia from the group Mexicanos Unidos spoke against the reopening of the concentration camps for children that are being reopened under the Joe Biden and Kamala Harris administration.

After the rally, people marched to the Brooklyn Bridge. Several NYPD police officers tried to stop people from crossing the Brooklyn Bridge, however protesters kept marching. They crossed the Brooklyn Bridge and went to Foley Square in Manhattan.

During the march, people chanted: “No ICE, no KKK, no fascist USA.” “Biden, Biden, don’t you hear? Free our children now!” “No more ICE in our communities. No more children in cages.” “From Palestine to Mexico, All the walls have got to go.” “No Borders, No Nations, Stop Deportations!” “Say it loud! Say it clear! Immigrants are welcome here!” “La migra, la policía, la misma porquería.” “¡Kamala, escucha, estamos en la lucha!” “¡Biden, escucha, estamos en la lucha!”

In Foley Square, protesters beat a piñata resembling President Joe Biden and a pig piñata representing the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). The Joe Biden piñata had a sign that read: “Close the (concentration) camps, Joe.” Some people hit “Biden” with sticks. The piñatas had different Mexican delicious candies.

Mexicanos Unidos says their “mission is to develop a critical collective social consciousness for the Mexican community, in solidarity with all oppressed brothers/sisters.”

Joe Biden and Kamala Harris reopened a Trump-era detention site for migrant children in Carrizo Springs, Texas. The detention center is expected to hold 700 children. Dozens of kids have already arrived there. The detention center was open for only one month in the summer of 2019, during the Trump and Pence administration.

“It’s unnecessary, it’s costly, and it goes absolutely against everything [President] Biden promised he was going to do. It’s a step backward, is what it is. It’s a huge step backward” Linda Brandmiller, a San Antonio-based immigration lawyer who represents unaccompanied minors, told the Washington Post.

Another concentration camp for children that Joe Biden and Kamala Harris reopened is the same Homestead detention center in Florida that several former democratic presidential candidates criticized in 2019. The vast majority of ex candidates have not spoken against the reopening of the Homestead Detention Center.

Did former Democratic Party presidential candidates say they did not want kids in cages just to get votes?

The Green Party of the United States of America says that Democrats kick Green Party candidates off ballots so they can break their promises and sneer “you have nowhere else to go.”

Jen Perelman says on Twitter, “The “kids in cages” in the Homestead detention center was used as nothing more than a political ball by the Dems against Trump. How do we know this? Biden is reopening the facility that’s been closed 2 years. Why is our congresswoman & other reps silent?”

The organization American Friends Service Committee in Florida says on Twitter, “We talked to democratic presidential candidates who came to Homestead (in 2019) to take pics and make empty promises to end child detention! BTW, out of all of them ONLY Julian Castro has spoken against Biden’s announcement to reopen Homestead! Gracias!”

If people keep voting for democrats (and republicans), then people will keep getting the same results.

United We Dream asks people to sign this petition: “DEMAND THE SHUTDOWN OF CHILD CONCENTRATION CAMPS REOPENING UNDER BIDEN.”

The petition says: “Concentration camps are reopening under the Biden Administration.

On Monday February 22nd, dozens of migrant teens boarded vans to Homestead, FL to a child detention facility which was shut down in July 2019, and now has officially reopened under the Biden admin. This facility was known for child sex-abuse claims that resulted in the firing of one employee and the resignation of two others.

This reopening came the same week when the Department of Health and Human Services reopened a facility in Texas to house up to 700 migrant youth aged 13 to 17.

The Biden Administration campaigned on the promise protecting immigrant communities and moving away from the cruelty of the Trump Administration. They are failing us!

This is unacceptable! Why is the Biden administration choosing to reopen Detention Camps especially when they were the source of protests and controversy? We have been down this road of inhumane treatment of children and all immigrants before. It needs to end.

Conditions in all detention camps are cruel. Detainees suffer from illnesses and disease including COVID 19, live off slimy and rotting deli meat, and are denied basic necessities like soap, or a toothbrush. They are separated from their families with no promise of reunification or future assistance.

We DEMAND that ALL detention camps be SHUT DOWN immediately! CLICK HERE TO ADD YOUR NAME if you agree.

On Tuesday, February 23, 2021, the Miami Herald reported that “The Biden administration is planning to soon reopen a Homestead detention center for unaccompanied migrant teens as border crossings start to rise, two Department of Homeland Security officials with knowledge of the facility’s operations confirmed to the Miami Herald Tuesday. The center— now known as the Biscayne Influx Care Facility — is preparing to house migrant teens ages 13 to 17. Federal Police Services and Constellis, two private contractors, are expected to provide security when the center is officially reopened, a third source contracted with DHS confirmed.”

On Thursday, March 4, 2021, Thomas Kennedy of United We Dream said on Twitter, “A facility where immigrant children suffered mistreatment, sexual abuse, prison-like routine, next to a toxic military waste site is not acceptable in South FL. Kamala Harris called the Homestead detention camp for children a “human rights abuse.” Let’s shut it down permanently.”

Isabela Dias writes on MotherJones.com, “On June 28, 2019, then-Sen. Kamala Harris visited the Homestead temporary shelter for migrant children in South Florida. The facility had been in the news following shocking allegations of sexual abuse and prison like conditions, and Harris was in town with several other Democratic presidential candidates to denounce the site and the Trump administration’s harsh immigration policies. Detaining children, particularly in such dire conditions, “is a human rights abuse being committed by the United States government,” she told a small crowd. Harris later described seeing “children lined up like prisoners” as heartbreaking.”

Isabela adds, “A few months later, Homestead shut down under mounting public pressure. Thousands of children and teenagers had passed through over roughly two years; at the time of its closure, it was the country’s largest for-profit temporary holding facility for unaccompanied minors.”

Local10.com reported that “Immigration activists held a car rally Thursday (march 4, 2021) around the facility in Homestead that was used for child migrants “to oppose its reopening by the Biden administration.”

Organizers of the protest included United We Dream, AFSC Florida, Florida Immigrant Coalition, Immigrant Action Alliance, Florida Immigrant Youth Network, WeCount! and the Southern Poverty Law Center.

Advocates don’t believe the conditions in the facility are safe for children and are also concerned about long-term mental effects.” Click here to watch a video.

Immigration lawyers and advocates do not understand why the Biden and Harris administration would choose to reopen Trump-era concentration camps for children that were the source of protests and controversy.

During his campaign, Biden pledged to undo former president Donald Trump’s hard-line immigration policies. Today, Biden is doing the same thing that Trump was doing. Biden was supposed to be the lesser of two evils, but he is more of the same.

On Sunday, March 7, family members, friends and supporters of Javier Castillo Maradiaga had a demonstration in the Bronx. They ask the Biden and Harris administration to release Javier from ICE detention.

Javier Castillo Maradiaga came to the U.S. at the age of 7 and received DACA status. Castillo was arrested for jaywalking in New York City. Javier was arrested on his way to his brother’s birthday party in 2019 and has been in ICE detention ever since. He could be deported to Honduras as soon as Monday March 8, 2021. ?Javier is 27-year-old now. The United States of America is his home.

Joe Biden is the most powerful president in the world. If Biden and Harris can killed people in Syria (on Thursday, February 25, 2021, the Biden and Harris administration killed 22 people in Syria), then Biden and Harris can stop the deportation of Javier Castillo and other undocumented immigrants.

In addition to the reopening of concentration camps for children, Joe Biden and Kamala Harris are deporting and expelling large numbers of immigrants.

The organization United We Dream says on UnitedWeDream.org, “26,248 Number of confirmed deportations under Biden (last updated on Tuesday, February 16, 2021). Under the Biden-Harris Administration’s watch, deportations are taking place daily, despite a promise to stop deportations. This administration must prioritize the safety and healing of immigrant communities – and that means stopping deportations.”

International Women’s Day is celebrated on March 8 around the world. How many women will be send today to detention centers by Joe Biden and Kamala Harris? How many women will be deported and expelled today by Joe Biden and Kamala Harris?
