New York City – On Tuesday, May 18, 2021, Thousands of Palestinians, Jews, Latinas, Latinos, Asians, Black, Whites, and others shut down different streets in New York City to support the Palestine Strike. People gathered in front of the zionist (Israel) mission to the United Nations (Second Avenue between 42nd). After the rally, demonstrators marched through different streets in Manhattan. Protesters chanted: “Free, Free Palestine” “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free” “Israel is a terrorist state”. “Gaza, Gaza don’t you cry, we will never let you die!”
Several demonstrators climbed onto traffic lights and waved Palestinian flags. The flag of Palestine was in the sky of New York City.
NYPD officers arrested peaceful demonstrators in front of the United Nations. Protesters said zionists in Israel kidnap Palestinians in Palestine and NYPD zionists kidnap Palestinians and their friends in New York City.
After the arrests, protesters went to the New York City Police Department – 17th Precinct on 167 E 51st St (3 Ave) to demand the release of the demonstrators. Protesters asked NYPD officers if there were demonstrators at the 17th precinct. Officers lied to protesters. Officers told protesters that none of the people arrested were taken to the 17th precinct. I asked an officers. He said there were not demonstrators at the 17 precinct and he did not know were they were. Demonstrators know police officers lied all the time. People shut down 3 Ave and E 51 Street. Nerdeen Kiswani said “nobody is left behind”.
After like an hour, officers told protesters two of the children arrested were at the 17 precinct. Demonstrators leaved the area around 8:45 PM and went to the New York City Police Department – 7th Precinct on 19 1/2 Pitt St (Broomet St). Most of the adults and some children were taken to that precinct.
According to the NYPD, fifteen demonstrators were arrested. Some people were given summonses for blocking traffic. Some people, including four juveniles, were given desk appearance tickets for combinations of blocking traffic, disorderly conduct, obstruction and resisting arrest, according to the NYPD. Never believe what police officers say. They lie.
BDS said on Monday, May 17, 2021, “Palestinians in Jerusalem and across Historic Palestine are observing General Strike (on Tuesday, May 18, 2021) to protest Israel’s massacres in Gaza and settler-colonial and apartheid repression and ethnic cleansing against Palestinian communities everywhere.”
The demonstration in New York City was organized by NY4Palestine, Al-Awda NY: The Palestine Right to Return Coalition, Samidoun Palestinian Prisoner Solidarity Network, Within our Lifetime • United for Palestine, Jews for Palestinian Right of Return and Labor for Palestine.

Jens Laerke, a spokesman for the U.N. Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, said nearly 47,000 Palestinians have fled their homes during more than a week of heavy Israeli airstrikes. Laerke said 132 buildings comprising 621 housing and commercial units have been destroyed in Gaza. He said another 316 housing units have been severely damaged and rendered uninhabitable.

On Thursday, May 20, 2021, the terrorist state of Israel agreed to a cease-fire. The cease-fire does not mean Israel should be excuse for war crimes. Israel must allow humanitarian aid to enter Gaza immediately.
