Family members told the New York Daily News, Malcolm Amede welcomed a baby boy two weeks before he was killed. Malcolm knew both Paul Pinkney and Deshawn Reid.
“It’s really sad and unfortunate,” said Amede’s aunt, Petra Amede.

33-year-old Sam Metcalfe is the man struck by one of the stray bullets and wounded on Wednesday, August 19, 2020. He was walking to a nearby store with his wife Sabrina to buy toothpaste when he was shot. Sam remains hospitalized.
A Black man sat in a parked gray BMW shot and killed Malcolm Amede.

Thursday, August 20, 2020. Brooklyn, New York City – Three Black men, Deshawn Reid, Paul Pinkney and Malcolm Amede were shot and killed on Ocean Ave in Brooklyn in less than a week.
This morning I went to the three different places where Deshawn, Paul and Malcolm where shot. I spoke with several Black women and Black men. They are concerned about what it is going on in the area. Two of the shootings happened in broad-daylight.

On Friday, August 14, 2020, Deshawn Reid was shot and killed on Ocean Ave and Crooke Ave in Flatbush, around 4:00 P.M.. His mother is Jamaican. Deshawn was born in the United States of America.
On Sunday, August 16, 2020, Paul Pinkney was shot and killed on Ocean Ave and Parkside Ave in Prospect Lefferts Garden (a few blocks from where Deshawn Reid was shot), around 2:00 A. M. Different messages at his memorial say Paul was Trini (Trinidadian). Paul’s nickname was P-Funk and he also went by the alias Jordan Michael.

On Wednesday, August 19, 2020, Malcolm Amede was shot around 3:30 P.M. on Ocean Ave and Woodruff Ave in Flatbush (one block from where Deshawn Reid and Paul Pinkey were shot a few days before). Police sources and a witness said that a Black man sat in a parked gray BMW, waiting for Malcomb to walk by on Woodruff, and opened fire. Medics took him to Kings County Hospital, but he could not be saved. Apparently, Malcolm was Trinidadian.
During the same shooting, a 33-year-old man was hit in the chest by a stray bullet. He was rushed by EMS to Kings County Hospital. He was in stable condition.

AMNY reports that, “The slain teenager was identified this morning as Malcomb Amede of Lefferts Avenue. He and a 31-year-old man (the New York Daily News says the man is 33-year-old) were shot yesterday afternoon at Woodruff Avenue and Ocean Avenue in Flatbush – an area that has seen three homicides and at least six people shot over the past month.
A gun found on at the scene may have belonged to one of the victims in the shooting possibly to defend themselves from the assailant who escaped in a silver BMW X-5 who’s license plate appears to have been removed prior to the shooting.
A peace rally will be held later today in Asser Levy Park in Brighton Beach where organizers are calling for peace. Another rally is planned for Aug. 21, 11:45 a.m. in the Bronx at Broadway and West 242nd Street.”

On Wednesday, August 19, 2020, the New York Daily News reported that, “A young man was fatally shot and an innocent bystander was wounded in Brooklyn on Wednesday — the latest of three deadly encounters within just two blocks since Friday, authorities said.
In a plastic shopping bag, the victim had a votive candle and was heading to a memorial for Paul Pinkney, 47, who was killed in nearby Prospect Park early Saturday (Paul was killed on Sunday around 2 A. M.), police sources said.
In a sad coincidence, Pinkney was fatally shot after lighting a candle at another memorial — for Deshawn Reid, 28, who was killed just a few doors away from Wednesday’s deadly scene.”

kyrnews.com reports, “A crowd of more than a dozen bystanders collected around the two victims (Malcomb Amede and the other man) after the shooting, comforting them as they awaited the arrival of paramedics, video from the scene obtained by The Post shows.
“Jesus loves you! The community loves you!” one man was shouting to a victim as others tried to stop his wounds from bleeding.
Another man who was holding a victim’s hand on the ground pleaded with him to fight.
“Keep your eyes open. Keep your eyes open,” he said.”
